Toronto: An Evening Dedicated to the Greek Vineyard
Wine lovers in Toronto had the opportunity to experience a special evening filled with the aromas and flavors of Greece during the Wines of Greece Grand Tasting 2026 event, held at the Arcadian Loft.
The event, featuring 34 Greek wineries and more than 130 labels, highlighted the richness, diversity, and dynamism of the Greek vineyard, attracting both industry professionals and wine enthusiasts.
At the event, organized by Andros Communications under the direction of Mr. Kalampoukis, representatives of the Wines of Greece program were also present, including Ms. Maria Triantafyllou and Ms. Klairi Efkarpidou. We were also in attendance, with the opportunity to sample a wide range of Greek wines, from white and rosé selections to more complex red labels.
Particular interest was shown in the selections of Ms. Elena Stratikoπούλου, an event industry professional, who singled out certain labels that reflect the contemporary identity of Greek wine.
Among them, Naoussa Boutari stood out—a characteristic wine from the Xinomavro variety, with a deep red color and intense character. Aromas of ripe red fruits, such as plum and blackberry, combine with notes of cinnamon and oak from aging, creating a balanced and full-bodied result.
Also included in her selections was Domaine Costa Lazaridi Malagousia (2025), an aromatic white wine showcasing the potential of the Greek Malagousia variety, as well as Megas Oenos 2023 from Domaine Skouras, a more complex red wine blending Greek and international varieties, offering depth and complexity.
Among the red wines, Idisma Drios Xi (Wine Art Estate) also stood out—a modern wine expressing the new generation of Greek producers and the shift toward more refined, internationally competitive styles.
The event was not limited to wine tasting, but functioned as a comprehensive introduction to Greek wine culture. Visitors had the chance to speak with winemakers, learn about grape varieties, terroirs, and production techniques, and pair the wines with selected Greek flavors.
As highlighted during the event presentation, Greek wine in recent years has made significant strides on the international stage, leveraging both its rich tradition and modern expertise. With a strong identity and unique characteristics derived from indigenous varieties and diverse geographical zones, Greece now offers a highly competitive and authentic proposition on the global wine map.
The evening in Toronto confirmed that interest in Greek wine continues to grow, with events like this playing a crucial role in promoting it abroad.
